After exchanging romantic letters with the mysterious Mr. Branwell, a young governess arrives at a remote manor in the bleak and savage moors of 19th-century England. She finds, however, only Branwell’s two sisters, a maid (or maids?), and a seemingly-dangerous, deeply-depressed mastiff. There is no child for the governess to care for and Branwell is nowhere to be found . . . if he ever existed at all. And what about the moor-hen with a terrible memory and flying challenge? Lies are revealed, loyalties shift, and danger lurks until someone reaches her breaking point. This dark comedy gives a nod and a wink to the lives and works of the Brontë sisters as it examines love, power, desperation, and our longing to be seen.
