Guest performance: Northwestern State University Percussion Ensemble

The percussion studio at Northwestern State University of Louisiana is under the direction of Mr. Ken Green and Dr. Oliver Molina. The studio consists of undergraduate and graduate students and averages 30 music majors per year. The studio comprises students from Louisiana, Texas, and international students from Central and South America. The percussion ensemble performs two concerts a year, one each semester, with a wide variety of works from small chamber pieces to large works for percussion orchestras. New contemporary works along with ragtime, orchestral transcriptions, ancient rudimental drumming, and pop tunes are regularly programmed. NSU also hosts an annual Day of Percussion in the spring. Recently, the ensemble has performed at the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy and has toured throughout Louisiana and Texas to recruit the top talent in the region.
