The Counseling Center is proud to be offering the following groups for Spring 2019:
Becoming Socially Acceptable - This group helps students learn to feel more comfortable in social settings, be involved in conversations, decrease negative self-talk, and increase confidence and self-esteem. The group will meet on Mondays from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.
Circle of Men - Circle of Men will meet weekly to explore what it means to be an authentic man in the new millennium. Group members will gain a greater understanding and acceptance of themselves, challenge old patterns of lived masculinity, and experiment with new ways of relating to self and others. The group will meet on Tuesdays from 3:00 to 4:30.
Mind Over Mood - This group is designed to help group members learn effective ways to regulate emotions, tolerate distress, increase mindfulness, identify values and improve relationships. Members will interact with each other to practice skills and support each other in the growth process. The group will meet on Wednesdays from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.
HERstory Makers - Herstory Makers is designed to empower women of diverse backgrounds to overcome personal challenges and foster genuine overall growth. Typical challenges may include self-esteem, communicating assertively, redefining body image, cultural issues and more. The group will meet on Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:30.
Interested students are asked to meet with a group facilitator in advance to determine if the group will be a good fit for them. For more information or to schedule a meeting with a group facilitator, call the Counseling Center at 903.886.5145.
