We are excited to share that we are starting the construction phase of expanding the Morris Recreation Center. This project aims to enhance our facilities and provide an improved experience for all our patrons.

As part of this initiative, please note that there will be some changes to our entrances and pathways. We’re working hard to ensure minimal disruption and keep you informed every step of the way.

Here are the key details:

• Campus Recreation staff offices have moved to the 3^rd floor of the Journalism building.
• Initially, the MRC will close December 14 – January 5 for pre-construction preparations.

Tentative Construction Timeline:

• Start Date: December 14, 2024
• Phase 1: December 2024 – Fall 2025
• Phase 2: Fall 2025 – Summer 2026
• Expected Completion Date: Summer 2026

Navigating the MRC once we reopen In January:

• Please use the weight room doors on the southwest side of the MRC (this is closer to the frontage roads and alongside the big glass windows that you see along the road) for access during phase 1 of construction.
• Follow posted signs for alternative routes and updates.
• Patrons are still required to swipe/scan into the Morris Recreation Center.

During this time, we will do our best to minimize disruptions and provide alternative options wherever possible. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to create a better facility for everyone.
