You're Invited to RSVP for Alicia Currin's Walk-thru Farewell
Due to COVID-19 and all social distancing protocols, Alicia Currin's Retirement Celebration has been transformed, and on August 21 you are invited to say farewell and take a socially-distanced walk down, and through, Alicia Currin's "Memory Lane".
It has been 39 years, and one university name change from East Texas State University, since Alicia Currin, while working on her degree, started as a secretary at the Zeppa Recreation Center. Over the last four decades, Alicia has moved offices, but has remained within the sturdy brick walls of the McDowell Administration building where she finished her career as the Chief Financial Officer on the second floor.
In addition to 39 years spent dedicated to her Lion family, Alicia managed to find the time to meet and marry Joe Currin, and raise three brilliant, talented and amazing children, Brandi Hall, Rachel Stewart and Lucas Currin. I have come to believe Alicia rarely sleeps, and instead gains her energy from those around her. It is a special gift and skill which she has fine-tuned over the years to become the matriarch of such an incredible family. Her planning and preparation at work have carried over into her family life, and as she prepares to step away from campus, she now rushes toward her seven precious grandchildren.
Alicia's history mixes with the University's, and we invite you to walk with her down "Memory Lane", sharing a few more laughs, another photo or two, and help show her how important she has been and continues to be to our Lion family.
"Memory Lane" begins outside of the McDowell Administration building, on the sidewalk in front of the entrance. It will meander, as most memories do, and follow the path toward the amphitheater. It will enter the building through the automatic sliding doors by the Graduate School, and continue its climb up the back stairs and into the executive area on the second floor. At the end of the path will be our guest of honor, Alicia Currin.
To support safe social distancing, each memory will be staged six-feet apart. Monitors within the BA building will also display memories and video clips to enjoy along the way. We will have additional cleanings throughout the farewell, and as you depart, remember to pick up your individually wrapped refreshments. Finally, we ask all attendees to please don a mask when taking this trip down Alicia's "Memory Lane".
